Ridley Scott , director of Alien , announced at a press conference that his next film, Alien Covenant , the sequel to Prometheus (2012), is also one of three films that serve as prequels to the 1979 horror film.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter , Scott said in Australia, where production is ready Alien Covenant , in addition to this film, which will begin filming in March 2016 other two will help dispel doubts about the origin of the aliens .
