BMW calls for review of 230,000 cars in the US due to airbags problem

BMW has called for more than 230,000 vehicles in the United States because they could have defective airbags made by the Japanese group Takata.

The German company has assured that a small percentage of these cars and SUVs could equip Takata airbag modules with defective inflators that could have been installed as spare parts or replacement parts, Efe Dow Jones has been able to know.

According to explains, the German manufacturer the original modules of the airbags of those cars did not contain those inflators.

The call for review concerns Series 3 units manufactured between 2000 and 2002, Series 5 between 2001 and 2002, and Tocons (X5 and X3) between 2001 and 2003.

Takata is facing financial hardship over the withdrawal of millions of defective airbags worldwide from the potential for them to explode. This problem has been linked to 11 deaths and about 180 injured in the United States, according to federal authorities.

BMW would have discovered the problem in November 2016 following a customer inquiry.

A spokesman for the company has avoided specifying how much would cost the calls for review and substitutions, nor if the costs will be assumed by BMW or Takata.

Qatar Airways inaugurates the world's longest commercial flight

Catamaran airline Qatar Airways inaugurated the world's longest commercial flight between Doha and Auckland on Sunday, a company spokesman said.

The flight QR920 left the capital of Qatar at 05H02 local (02H02 GMT) and is scheduled to land in Auckland (New Zealand) at 07H30 local (18H30 GMT).

The Boeing 777 plans to cover the route in 16 hours and 20 minutes, cross ten time zones, fly over five countries and travel a total distance of 14,535 kilometers before arriving in New Zealand.

For the return flight, the flight takes 17 hours and 30 minutes because of contrary winds, the airline's website said.

This is the longest air flight in hours, according to Flightradar specialists24.

Qatar Airways did not give the number of crew on board, but it is known that this type of flights need four pilots and 15 flight attendants and helpers on board.

In March 2016, the Emirates company had launched what was then considered the longest flight in the world, between Dubai and Auckland, a 14,200-kilometer journey.

The man of the 86 wives dies in Nigeria at the age of 93

A Nigerian, known to have been forced to divorce 82 of his 86 wives by an Islamic court, died last Saturday at the age of 93, a family representative said Monday.

"Baba refused to take medication, which was how he lived, his family always remained intact, and his 86 women were close to him when he died," Salahu Bello

When he was jailed years ago, the 86 wives and 20 of his 170 children demonstrated to the traditional court of justice in Minna (state capital) to testify to their support. The case was finally annulled.

Muhamadu Bello Masaba "was extinguished Saturday at his home" in Niger state (central Nigeria), his relative added.

In 2008, an Islamic court that enforces strict sharia law (Islamic law, which is established in 12 Nigerian states) detained him for "ostentatious contempt for religious laws" and for "unlawful union with 86 wives" .

He was ordered to keep only four, according to Islam. But Masaba - whose nickname was Baba (Father) - rejected it, arguing that he had not violated any religious principle.

Salahu Bello stated that Bello Masaba had left behind an "inheritance of trust, compassion and submission to Allah".

"He died at the age of 93, and anyone at that age should stick to suffering health problems," the source explained.

In his first speech as president, Trump has virtually cited Bane

In many on the internet have noticed that a passage of the first speech as US president uttered by Donald Trump
during the inauguration  yesterday is very similar to a phrase uttered by Bane, a character played by Tom Hardy in  The Dark Knight - The back , one of the three films in the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan.

Bane in the movie, which is one of the bitterest enemies of Batman, says: "We take away the corrupt Gotham! To the rich! To generations of persecutors who subdued with the chimera of an opportunity. Return it to you, the people.

"Yesterday, however, Trump said:" Today we are not simply transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington DC and we are returning to you, the people. "

Among the people who have spoken on the stage of the Women's March in Washington - the largest of 672 demonstrations against the new US president Donald Trump held yesterday throughout the world - there was Madonna. The end of his speech was one of the most filmed moments and discussed among the things he said during the event, which was attended by more than half a million people. Madonna said:
"We walk together in this march through the dark and with every step we know that we are not afraid, that we are not alone, that we will not give up, that there is power in our unit and that no other force can do it against the true solidarity. And for our detractors who insist that this event will have no effect: fuck you.
