Call Me Francesco is the first movie about the life of Pope Francisco, based on the book of the same name written by Giorgio Grignaffini. Argentine actor Rodrigo de la Serna stars tape and interprets the Pope when he was a young man, known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio .
The story focuses on the dark years of the military dictatorship in Argentina between 1976-1983 and Bergoglio efforts to keep all that rodeanban safe. The film also examines the difficult role of the Church during the dictatorship.
The film shows Bergoglio working in poor suburbs before being calling Cordoba back to Buenos Aires, long before he became the first pope from the Americas.
De la Serna spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the great responsibility to take on the role of the Pope."People say it's impossible to get into the mind of a Jesuit," says the actor. "They are very strategic men with a logic that is very difficult to understand if you're not in that order. So I think that in the case of Jorge Bergoglio, has a monumental spirituality he developed ".
The actor also said the arduous task of impersonating someone like Pope Francisco. "It's a character with a great dimension. The film is a difficult way to describe what happens when one prays. There is a difficulty to do the job of acting actually. It was very frustrating for me to know my limitations, intellectually and spiritually. "
The film, Call Me Francesco will reach more than 700 screens in Italy on December 3 and will have its world premiere at the Vatican on December 1 before an audience of 7,000 people.
