Chloë Moretz star in The Little Mermaid, new film by Working Title and Universal. Richard Curtis is in talks to write the script.
Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title will produce the film, with the support of Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger as executive producers.
It is not yet known how this new version compared to previous versions of the story of Hans Christian Andersen , which follow a mermaid who wants to become human after falling in love with a man who saved her from drowning.
Erik Baiers , executive vice president of Universal, and Chloe Yellin , the creative director of the study, will oversee the project.
Earlier this year, the director Sofia Coppola abandoned the project due to creative differences with the film home. Given that the project has no release date yet, executives have decided to work again in the script with a writer of high level, in order to attract the kind of talent they want for the project.
Chloë Moretz has always been the leading candidate to star in the film, even when Coppola was in charge of the project. Some nearby sources indicate that Coppola did not want to work with a star like Moretz as the reason for their separation project. Followed off Coppola, the study still wanted to have Moretz on paper, but they would not make it official until there was a related screenwriter.
Currently, Chloë Moretz is filming Neighbors 2: Rising Sorority Universal, after finishingBrain on Fire . Soon you may see in the movies from Sony: The Fifth Wave and inNovember Criminals , both estimated for 2016. The actress is represented by WME, T-squared Entertainment and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.
Curtis credits include Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral, both popular titles in the audience and critics. He recently wrote and directed Trash starring Rooney Mara . It is represented by United Agents and Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown.
