Queen of England, Elizabeth II, celebrates her Jubilee of Sapphire, 65 years on the throne


The Queen of England, Elizabeth II, will make history today when she turns 65 on the throne, the first British monarch to celebrate a Jubilee of Sapphire.

She is expected to commemorate the occasion in private at her home in Sandringham, Norfolk County, and is not scheduled to attend any official commitment .

Although popular celebrations are not expected, the anniversary will be marked with traditional cannon salutes in the Tower of London and Hyde Park in the capital, and with similar military ceremonies elsewhere in the UK.

In September 2015, Isabel II surpassed the 63-year reign of her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who ran from 1837 until her death in 1901, after acceding to the throne with only 18 years, and also has beaten in age, since Victoria lived Up to 81 years.

In addition, on October 13, 2016, she became the queen and head of the state with more years of reign, after the death of the king of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej, who directed the country's destinations for 70 years and 126 days.

On February 6, 1952, Princess Isabel acceded to the throne, with 25 years, after the sudden death of its father, Jorge VI, although it was not crowned until 2 of June of 1953, an anniversary that will fulfill next year.

Born on 21 April 1926, the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday in 2016 with several public events and a banquet for her family and friends at Windsor Castle, her favorite residence on the outskirts of London.

According to the British media, the great popular celebrations by their milestones of reign would be reserved for an eventual Jubilee of Platinum, that the sovereign would celebrate in 2022, the year of its 96 birthday.
