Ninety years are not met every day, but being on the ball and dedicated to the service of the nation. So Elizabeth of England celebrates this anniversary in style, with many scheduled to be in contact with citizens and commemoration activities full of meaning. A historical date -the Thursday 21 April- that the Queen wanted to celebrate in private, two days earlier, on Tuesday 19, in the company of another Queen: Queen Sofia .
HOLA.com has been told, this meeting of queens took place on Tuesday 19 April at Windsor Castle -the royal residence located in the county of Berkshire, in the UK , and was due to a personal invitation Isabel II gave Queen Sofia on the occasion of his birthday.

90 reasons to greet Queen Elizabeth II on her birthday
This quote -during which the sovereign of the United Kingdom and the mother of the present King of Spain enjoyed lunch - took place in such an intimate setting and only two days before this historic birthday, highlights the good relationship between the two families and between the two royal houses.
Although sometimes state affairs mainly tensions over Gibraltar have been brought when the then King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, would come to official events in the UK, the truth is that this is the best example that between them always "reigned" the harmony . Moreover, both families are linked by blood ties and centuries of history.
Not only Isabel II and Queen Sofia are great - grandchildren of Queen Victoria of England, so are their husbands , King Juan Carlos -for his paternal grandmother, Queen Victoria Eugenia and the Duke of Edinburgh, to remember that just Dona Sofia is by birth prince of Greece and Denmark, being the grandson of George I of Greece, the great grandfather of Queen Sofia.
Remember that the current political deadlock afflicting Spain foiled trip kings Don Felipe and Letizia were scheduled -from 8 to 10 March- the UK . It was the most anticipated state visit and it would be an appointment of special relevance, as was the April 22, 1986 when Don Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia had done last time such a visit.
It was early February -after that both countries had announced officially this trip and after months of work to balance the agendas- when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the postponement. At the moment there is no expected completion date, but it is not likely to resume within a year, as the Queen of England receives no more than two state visits a year.
Thus it lost a special opportunity at a special time , both as regards the noted 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth as the 400th anniversary of the death of the greatest writers in both languages, Miguel Cervantes and William Shakespeare.
