Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, assured that "it is already a tradition" that they face the "king" of the Champions League, after the draw for the quarterfinals has paired them with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid and Manchester City will meet for the third consecutive season in the Champions League. The 'Sky Blues' eliminated the whites last season en route to their first title in the top continental competition.
"It seems like it's a tradition now. Three years in a row playing against the kings of the competition. I hope we can arrive at a good time because there are still several weeks left until the first match in Madrid," Guardiola said this Friday at a press conference.
Regarding the advantage of playing the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola pointed out that the draw cannot be controlled and that when people say that the draw has been easy or not it is because "they underestimate the rival."
"This year we are at home, two years ago we were away. It is what it is. We will need two good games," he said.
"For us this is something new, for Madrid it is not special to be in the playoffs. In recent years we have been very regular. We have started to be in these rounds and when you are in these rounds you start to play against the best in the world" , he pointed out.
