Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, among the nominees for the 2016 BAFTA awards

The actors are nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor for his performances in 'The reborn' and 'Mars', respectively. 



The actor Eddie Redmayne could take home the BAFTA for Best Actor  for the second consecutive year after winning the same award in 2015 for her role in 'The theory of everything'. On this occasion, Redmayne has been nominated for his portrayal of the transgender artist  Lili Elbe . Although you will not lack competence to take the coveted award, since in the same category are nominated  Leonardo DiCaprio  for "The reborn ',  Matt Damon  for 'Mars',  Michael Fassbender  for 'Steve Jobs' and  Bryan Cranston  by 'Trumbo'.


The big favorite to win the BAFTA for  Best Actress  are Cate Blanchett  for her portrayal of a wealthy society woman in New York in the 50s who falls for a young saleswoman. This category is also nominated the co-star Redmayne in 'The Danish Girl',  Alicia Vikander and veteran  Maggie Smith  for her work in "The Lady in the Van 'and young  Brie Larson and Saoirse Ronan  for his performances in 'Room' and 'Brooklyn' respectively.
Interestingly,  Vikander  has also received a nomination for  Best Supporting Actress  for her work playing a robot in 'Ex Machina' category in which it will compete with  Jennifer Jason Leigh  for her role in 'The odious eight ",  Julie Walters  for 'Brooklyn ',  Rooney Mara  for 'Carol' and Kate Winslet  for 'Steve Jobs'.
In the category of  Best Supporting Actor , the nominees are  Idris Elba  for 'Beasts Of No Nation',  Benicio del Toro  for 'Sicario', Christian Bale  for 'big bet',  Mark Ruffalo  on 'Spotlight' and  Mark Rylance  for ' The bridge of the spies'.
2016 could be the year in which the filmmaker  Ridley Scott  finally manages to win his first BAFTA for his work on 'Mars', although this will have to be imposed on other film greats such as  Steven Spielberg  'the bridge of the spies' -  Adam McKay  -'La big bet ', Todd Haynes  -'Carol'- and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu  'the renacido'- in the category of  Best Director .
'The bridge of the spies' and 'Carol'  lead the nominations for the awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Friday- you -anunciadas today with nine mentions each, followed by 'The reborn' with eight. The ceremony will take place on February 14 at the Royal Opera House in London.
