Bill Cosby seven women sued for defamation on Monday 14 December. The comedian took this legal action after being accused by the defendants of sexual abuse.
"Clearly Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted not the accused. Each has maliciously published numerous false statements in an effort to harm your reputation and to extract financial gain ", says a statement issued by Monique Pressley , a lawyer of the actor.
The lawsuit was completed in federal court in Massachusetts and charged with defamation Tamara Green , Therese Serignese , Linda Traitz , Louisa Moritz , Barbara Bowman , Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie . As explained in the document provided by the advocate of the artist, the fault Cosby well have interfered with his work, a situation that caused the loss of several opportunities in the entertainment world.
Joseph Cammarata , a lawyer for the accused said it was curious that a claim is made against this group of women specifically, adding that this move by the actor is an attempt to "turn the attention" away from litigation that takes into against. To date more than 50 women have accused the singer of sexual abuse.
