Five players who were about to be Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead

It took five years and six seasons since Andrew Lincoln first came to our screens as the "real" version of  Rick Grimes in  The Walking Dead.

Since its first performance, the character of  Rick  grew tremendously, both physically and mentally, losing some of its humanity throughout the series progressed and steeling himself for the new post-apocalyptic world in which he lives.

Seeing  Andrew Lincoln  as  Rick Grimes, it is almost impossible to imagine anyone else in the role, but the fact is that when the actor who gave life to the character in 2010 sought,   Lincoln  had a tough competition to overcome before becoming the  Sheriff Grimes.

Recently he unveiled the five other actors were almost summoned to give life to  Rick Grimes , and also with an "extra" about an actress who was about to be  Michonne . 

1. Jamie Bamber - Rick Grimes

Jamie Bamber was best known for her role as Lee Adama in Battlestar Galactica, although according to a 2010 article, Frank Darabont wanted him for the role of Rick. The truth is that closely resembled Rick comics.

2. Stuart Townsend - Rick Grimes

Along with Jamie Bamber, back in 2010 it sounded like Stuart Townsend also possible move. Townsend is probably best known for his roles as Lestat in Queen of the Damned, Dorian Grey in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, in addition to being husband Charlize Theron from 2001-2010.

3. Ethan Embry - Rick Grimes

While most fans of The Walking Dead Ethan Embry now recognize as the ill-fated Carter resident of Alexandria, there was a time that she auditioned for another role in the series! The actor revealed in The Talking Dead that he auditioned for the show back in 2010, and hinted that he had tested for the role of Rick.

4. Mark Pellegrino - Rick Grimes

The Lost and Dexter actor Mark Pellegrino was another actor rumoured for the role in 2010. The slightly scruffy appearance Pellegrino definitely looks a bit like Rick, but perhaps would have made the character look too villain, something that has no Lincoln.

5. Thomas Jane - Rick Grimes

Thomas Jane was actually the first choice to play Frank Darabont Rick Grimes, and to be honest, it could have worked. The actor had worked on The Mist to the orders of Darabont so that the director and showrunner held him in high regard, at the time that The Walking Dead was presented to HBO. When this chain went from the series and finished in AMC, HBO did not want Jane to work on it as she held on to star in the series Hung, which paved the way for Lincoln was finally chosen.
