In its 92 year history, Walt Disney Animation Studios has created a legacy of movies featuring talking animals - since the debut of Mickey Mouse in the short "Steamboat Willie" to "Bambi," "Dumbo," "The Book of the jungle "," Robin Hood "and" The Lion King ".
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the animal world with his next film "Zootopia".
"We all grew up watching the great Disney movies animals - we were immersed in those worlds," says the director, Byron Howard. "My favorite childhood movie was 'Robin Hood', and we wanted to honor that legacy, but in a different way, deeper. We started by asking 'How a mammalian metropolis would be if it had been designed by animals?' The idea was incredibly exciting for us. "
Zootopia is a city like no other, made up of different habitats that celebrate different cultures. It is the luxurious Plaza Sahara to desert animals; Tundratown for polar bears and moose; hot, humid Forest District; Small Rodencia for smaller rodents; and Sir Anthony for the millions and millions of adorable bunnies.
The city center, Central Sabana is a place where animals live in all environments. There, no matter what they are, from the largest to the smallest insect elephant, everyone can achieve what is proposed. But when the official optimistic Judy Hopps comes to town, he discovers that being the first rabbit in a police squad big and tough animals is not an easy task. Determined to prove herself, takes the opportunity to get involved in a case to solve a big mystery, even if it means associated with the fox Nick Wilde, a charlatan and con artist.
"In its essence, Zootopia is a film about friendship," said the director Rich Moore. "Judy and Nick - a rabbit and a fox - are natural enemies by definition So these characters do not mix very well at first both reach with insights into the relationship with the other -.. Unfounded prejudices that are not true."
According to Howard, the fact that friends do not get along well fed comedy in the film. "Judy is the eternal optimist, who believes that everyone can be what they want - after all, is the motto of the city," he says. "Nick is quite the opposite it is a cynical think we are what we are So we put this peasant innocent full of vim and vigor in the middle of the city next to Nick -... One realist and he has fun mocking her. But she has a few tricks up his sleeve. "
The creators conceived and built the vast and detailed world Zootopia, populating it with 50 different species of animals that retain what makes them so special in the real world, but also speak and wear pants. "The team spent 18 months investigating animals," says producer Clark Spencer. "We met with animal experts worldwide, including Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. We traveled 9.000 miles to Kenya, Africa, for a two-week immersion in animal behavior and personality. We wanted each species were real, they felt authentic and were based on their actual behavior. "
"I think the trip to Africa changed us all deeply," adds Jared Bush, co-director, and one of the writers. "It's an amazing experience, being surrounded by hundreds, thousands of animals. We wanted it to feel that density in the film, which was involved a lot of work. We returned from that trip with a genuine need to do well."
Zootopia has a remarkable voice cast in English called to give life to the mammalian metropolis, including Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time, ABC, Something Borrowed, Walk the Line), as the official rookie Judy Hopps. "Ginnifer has such a sweet temper," says Moore. "But it's also tough, as Judy, and has a lot of wood for comedy. He knows how to play a full and moral character in a funny way. He understands exactly what makes funny Judy".
Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses 2, This Is Where I Leave You) gives voice to the deceitful fox Nick Wilde. "Nick is not exactly a good guy," Bush said. "But Jason Bateman somehow makes lovable, sexy and oddly charming. Nick is sarcastic and hilarious in the style of Jason Bateman."
The rest of the voice cast includes English as Gazelle Shakira, the star of the most famous international pop Zootopia; Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Netflix, Luther, BBC) as the impatient boss Judy, Buffalo Head Bogo; J.K. Simmons (Juno Oscar winner for Whiplash) as Mayor Leodoro Leonzález; and Nate Torrance (Hello Ladies HBO; Weird Loners Fox), as the lovely cheetah Benjamin Garraza. Jenny Slate (Obvious Child, Marcel the Shell) are also involved, as vice mayor Bellwether; Tommy Clog (Up in Smoke, That '70s Show) and Yax; Octavia Spencer (Insurgent, Oscar winner for The Help) as Mrs. Nutriales disturbed.; and Bonnie Hunt (Return to Me, Jerry Maguire) and Don Lake (Dumb and Dumber Two, The Bonnie Hunt Show) as distressing but loving parents Judy.
"We are very fortunate to have this calibre- talents have really embraced the humor and the heart of this story in a way never before seen," says Spencer. "I think we're doing something very special, which is very exciting."
Zootopia, Walt Disney Animation Studios, is a comedy adventure directed by Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt OUT OF SERIES) and Rich Moore (RALPH, Demolition Man, The Simpsons) and produced by Spencer (RALPH, THE DEMOLITION, LILO AND STITCH). Jared Bush (PENN ZERO: ALMOST HERO, Disney XD) the co-director and one of the writers, and John Lasseter is the executive producer. Zootopia hit theaters in Latin America as of February 18, 2016.
A GREAT IDEA
The creators combine a complex issue with authenticity, humor and adventure
Research is the basis of all the films of Walt Disney Animation Studios - something that, according to executive producer John Lasseter, is a requirement to create a great story. literally for research - so when Zootopia creators decided to create a purely animal world, nature were launched. "We conducted a thorough investigation of the animals approximately 18 months," says the director Byron Howard. "We studied how they interacted with each other in nature, how to socialize and how they build their individual communities in the natural world."
